Atelier d’initiation à la gravure en taille douce

Envie de découvrir la gravure ? ‍

Cet atelier est une porte d’entrée accessible et créative dans l’univers de la gravure en taille douce.

Vous pouvez y participer même sans savoir forcement dessiner, à tous les âges, adultes ou enfants (à partir de 8 ans accompagnés).

Pendant 3h, nous explorons toutes les étapes du processus de gravure, de la création du motif jusqu’à l’impression de vos propres tirages.

Ce que vous apprendrez :
- Les bases de la gravure en taille douce
- Les gestes essentiels (graver, encrer, essuyer, imprimer)
- Obtenir un rendu expressif même en étant débutant

Informations pratiques :

Nombre de participants maximum par atelier : 6 personnes

Tarif individuel : 80 € par personne
(65 € pour les étudiants sur justificatif)

Tarifs groupes :
Vous êtes 2 ou 3 personnes et souhaitez vous inscrire ensemble à un atelier collectif : 75 € par personne.
Vous êtes un groupe de 4 à 6 personnes : 70 € par personne.

Tarifs duo :
Vous souhaitez un atelier privé à deux : 125 € par personne.

Lieu : Ateliers Tropisme (derrière les Halles Tropisme), 121 Rue Fontcouverte, au 2ème étage du bâtiment Picardie, dans l’atelier 33, à Montpellier. Voir plan

Esprit de l’atelier :
Un moment calme, concentré et créatif. Expérimenter une technique artisanale, réaliser ses propres tirages et repartir avec ses créations.

Il est possible de choisir des dates et des créneaux horaires individualisés sur simple demande.

Déroulé de l’atelier

1. Introduction & découverte
Présentation de la gravure en taille douce, des outils et des supports. Comprendre le principe et les possibilités.

2. Création du motif
Imaginer ou copier et dessiner un visuel. Pas besoin de savoir dessiner parfaitement, l’objectif étant d’expérimenter.

3. Gravure
Graver la plaque à l’aide d’outils adaptés.
Un moment immersif et souvent addictif.

4. Encrage & impression
Encrer puis imprimer. Repartir avec son ou ses tirages uniques.
Pour cette introduction, nous utiliserons un matériau simple et surprenant : le Tetra Pak.

La gravure en taille douce, c’est quoi ?

La gravure en taille douce consiste à dessiner en creusant un support (une plaque de métal, plexiglas, tetrapack…) pour imprimer le motif ainsi créé sur papier. Née au XVe siècle, cette technique a traversé les siècles entre les mains de Dürer, Rembrant ou Goya, jusqu’à nos jours.

  • Want to try your hand at printmaking? ‍

    This workshop offers an accessible and creative introduction to the world of intaglio printmaking.

    You can participate even if you don’t know how to draw—it’s open to all ages, adults and children (ages 8 and up, when accompanied by an adult).

    Over the course of 3 hours, we’ll explore every step of the engraving process, from creating the design to printing your own prints.

    What you’ll learn:


    - The basics of intaglio engraving

    - The essential techniques (engraving, inking, wiping, printing)

    - How to achieve an expressive result even as a beginner

    Practical information:

    Maximum number of participants per workshop: 6 people

    Individual rate: €80 per person
    (€65 for students with valid ID)

    Group rates:
    If you are a group of 2 or 3 people and would like to sign up together for a group workshop: €75 per person.
    If you are a group of 4 to 6 people: €70 per person.

    Duo rates:
    If you would like a private workshop for two: €125 per person.

    Location: Ateliers Tropisme (behind Les Halles Tropisme), 121 Rue Fontcouverte, on the 2nd floor of the Picardie building, in Studio 33, in Montpellier. See map

    Workshop atmosphere:
    A calm, focused, and creative experience. Experiment with a traditional craft technique, create your own prints, and take your creations home with you.

    Workshop Schedule

    1. Introduction & Discovery
An overview of intaglio engraving, tools, and materials. Understand the basics and possibilities.

    2. Creating the Design
Imagine or copy and draw a design. No need to be a skilled artist—the goal is to experiment.

    3. Engraving
Engrave the plate using appropriate tools. 
An immersive and often addictive experience.

    4. Inking & printing
Ink the plate and then print. Take home your unique print(s).
For this introductory session, we will use a simple yet surprising material: the Tetra Pak.

    What you’ll learn:

    - How to achieve an expressive result even as a beginner

    What is intaglio printing?

    Intaglio engraving involves creating a design by carving into a surface (a metal plate, Plexiglas, Tetra Pak, etc.) to print the resulting image onto paper. Originating in the 15th century, this technique has endured through the centuries in the hands of artists such as Dürer, Rembrandt, and Goya, right up to the present day.
